While on a media run through the Carolinas, 38 Hauncho made a stop in Winston-Salem to share his journey with the hottest podcast in NC, Concealed Media. During his interview Hauncho talked about growing up in his hometown of Louisville, KY, his journey through the music industry, the inspiration behind his latest music, what fans can expect next, and much more.
Before he was known for hit songs like “Nonchalant”, “Smooth N*gga”, and the viral “Oh Boy” verse, 38 Hauncho, who is from 3800 Block on the West End of Louisville, was known in the streets. Hauncho said he never saw music as something he could do full time. “We was just rapping in the car, I ain’t never think it would do what it’s doing now,” he said.
Since turning away from the streets and dedicating his time and effort to his music, Hauncho has proven that he has what it takes to make it in the music industry. Many people from his hometown refer to him as “The Voice of the West End”. And now that he has his foot in the door 38 Hauncho said there’s no looking back.
“There hasn’t been anybody really rapping from my street since The Gangsta Walk and that was like the early 90’s…so people tell me I’m like the voice of the West End,” he continued. “…It makes me feel blessed, because it’s a lot of people that rap so the fact that they’re choosing me makes me feel honored. It makes me feel like I really have to keep going.”
